Today’s studio progress:
Before I start the official studio work list, I want to acknowledge that I folded some laundry and emptied the bathroom trash can before going out to play, I mean work…yeah…my sewing space, uh studio…because studio sounds like a place you do work. Right?
Now….for the “work”:
- Finished flipping, understitching, and hand stitching down the waistband on my daughter’s skirt. Hemming and buttons are all that’s left, and at 8 am intentions to finish the dress were still good and possible. However…long boring story about how I ended up left alone in my studio all day which means I had a side quest and made a mess and couldn’t work on the skirt until it got cleaned….spoiler: it’s not clean yet.
- Began organizing the tubs and bins in the back of the studio, retrieved the last of the “random crap off the desk” bins.
- Side quest: collect all the tools, pins, rulers, chalk, etc that was stuffed tossed corralled into various containers during the big move, sort them, organize them, and put them in efficient, useful places in the new space. (Uhhh well I found them all and they are in associated piles….on the ironing board)
- Side side quest: what fun is just one? Organize hardware (d rings, swivel clips, grommets, rivets, snaps, etc.)
- Related side side side quest:
- Google what I bought because I don’t know what half of it is
- Used my cool micrometer to determine sizes
- Remember that in the move I found my lost label maker
- Stop sorting to run to store for batteries for label maker
- Discover the label maker won’t turn on
- Remember we got a Bluetooth thermal printer for Christmas
- Spend way too much time typing in sizes and items and printing them out and cutting them to fit and labeling my organizing bins.
Tomorrow, I have to drive into town, looking respectable, to meet with a client (oh yeah, I’m a bookkeeper). I will only have about two hours that I can spend in the studio tomorrow morning, and that will probably be spent trying to clean up some of my mess.
So what should I make Friday? Give me your ideas!
