Progress Update: slightly overdue thanks to Memorial Day

  • Friday began the “give a mouse a cookie” phase of cleaning/decluttering the studio. What began as organizing hardware turned into organizing buttons and snaps and rivets and jewelry making supplies…. To which I determined I did not have enough proper bins for storing these things…. Even with the two new containers I picked up Thursday at the Dollar Tree.
  • Saturday was a Mother’s Day makeup luncheon at the campground for my Mother in Love. She wasn’t feeling well Mother’s Day weekend so our lunch plans were postponed. We had a delicious lunch, some grown up beverages ( made shuttle tatting a little more challenging ), a trip to the pool, a ride in the golf cart, and ended with a wonderful evening listening to the band On3!
Mr B with his Mini Schnauzer “Dock”
  • Sunday started off a little gloomy. It was chilly and we couldn’t tell what the weather was going to do. Mr B headed to his computer and I headed out to the studio for more sorting. But I wasn’t making much progress and he seemed mopey, so I sent him a text from the studio and asked him to take me on a date to get a new tarp for his boat. Mexican food, Harbor Freight, and Walmart. Let me tell you folks, us old folks know how to party.
I made the mistake of ordering the same size he did. Thank goodness Harbor Freight was right next door!
My new “Highly Judgmental Menopausal Emotional Support Chicken”
  • Monday morning was spent trying to clean up all the mess I had made since Thursday because my first SEWING STUDENTS were arriving at noon! I love these girls so much. They are friends of the family, and one of them has been one of my “kids” when I was a group leader in Drama Camp, and she was one of my ensemble actresses for Alice in Wonderland (my directorial debut). She and her little sister said they had fun, but I know this first class was boring. A lot of laying down the basics and dull foundational things. Sadly…. This also happened
DIY rotating cutting mat + rotary cutter + stupidity
  • FINALLY! What did I do today? Today I sorted doo dads… all my random old jewelry and random tatted things and random pieces of embroidery and salvaged purse parts and… you know.. all those things. However, I then had to go do big girl things like take my son to have his cast removed and do some work for my other job.

As much as I want to go finish making my bra, or finish the buttonholes on the skirt, or even just start making something else, I fear any creating this week will have to be small things, quick things, or just baby stepping on things. I have to rebuild my IKEA shelves in the kitchen (the replacement parts arrived), and the new part for my washer arrives Thursday, so that needs to be taken apart and reassembled (please pray this fixes it!), and I finally invested in a WORK-only laptop that arrives Thursday as well. As much as I love my old laptop, it couldn’t handle what I needed it to do anymore.

Question: should I start to sell my random makes? They would make great additions to bows or scrap journals or other bigger projects?

Happy making! ~Lisa B
